Moleculare Diagnostics
Detection of viruses and other protein containing macromolecules is usually done using real-time PCR and the takes around 2 hours. A system on the basis of B. subtilis cells, which contain a sensor in the cytoplasmatic membrane, makes an alternative detection system possible, which can deliver results in around 10 minutes. This system can open up new application areas for molecular diagnostics.
